Reaching a city doesn’t have to stop just because of a pandemic. On October 18, we virtually launched our first worship service on our Victory Mandaluyong Facebook page. Here is the story of how our church in Mandaluyong began.
Our vision to plant a church in Mandaluyong started 13 years ago, when we started meeting at Robinsons Forum in Pioneer. In 2014, Pastor Jun Aguilar (fondly known as Doc Jun, since he is a medical doctor) started contacting our local government, so he and his team can partner with them in serving our Mandaluyong community. It was then that we found out that our church was actually located in the outskirts of Mandaluyong City. This caused Pastor Jun to dream for a day when we can plant a church at the heart of the city and make a big impact in that community.
Since then, through our Victory group leaders and volunteers who are also residents of the city, we’ve been blessing different communities in Mandaluyong every Christmas. This initiative opened doors for us to reach the campuses in the city. We now have ongoing work in 10 campuses in the city, and we want to continue reaching more campuses for Jesus. There are also over 200 Victory groups happening across the city.
Mandaluyong City is at the very heart of Metro Manila. It is considered a young city, with the majority of its population comprising those 10 to 29 years old. Because we are called to reach the next generation and the future leaders of this nation, this is one of the key cities for us to reach. This is why early this year, we planned to launch Victory Mandaluyong. However, because of the pandemic, we had to pause our plans and change our strategies.
Through the direction and encouragement of our leadership team, we decided to virtually launch our worship services for Victory Mandaluyong. Even if our situation is not ideal, we realized that God was giving us an opportunity to bring His church into the homes of people! Families in Mandaluyong are able to hear His word and embrace His truth.
While there are but a few full-time workers, we have many volunteers who are stepping up and making themselves available for the work of the Lord in this city. Even if we don’t have a facility at the moment, the fire, the passion, and the call of God to reach Mandaluyong does not stop. Our heart to reach our city cannot be thwarted by this pandemic.
We continue to dream that one day, Mandaluyong will not just be reached for Christ, but out of this city will come world leaders and missionaries who will help win the world for Christ.
Together, let us pray for Mandaluyong and believe for breakthroughs as God continues to do a mighty work in that city. Despite the challenges of this season, the church of God is forcefully advancing and will never be on lockdown.
Join Victory Mandaluyong in one of their worship services every Sunday on their Facebook page. You may also visit this page to check the schedules of the online worship services of our other locations across the nation.
