The Next Generation Have a Voice: Andreanna Dy’s Story

No one is too young or too old to be used by God. This is true for Andreanna Dy.

Growing up, God had given her a love for writing and literature. She loved listening to her parents read Bible stories to her and her brother at bedtime. When she was a bit older, she began reading fantasy novels such as Monsters by Frank Feretti, The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis, and The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien. These stories inspired her to become a novelist.

However, during the pandemic, God opened her eyes to the societal injustices pervading our nation, compelling her to use her God-given talent in writing to raise awareness and make a change.

She applied as a writer for The Manila Times, but got rejected twice. Despite these setbacks, she pressed on, knowing that God is faithful. After writing a research paper for Harvard Learn With Leaders, she applied the third time and finally landed the job. For three years now, she’s been writing articles about our nation and the next generation.

It’s not easy for Andreanna, who, like many of our citizens, feels the frustration and clamor for change in our world. Through the guidance of her writing mentors, her friends and family, and the Lord, she continues to grow in her faith and to boldly speak and write the truth in love.

She has also now published a fantasy novel called Stars, inspired by the young people in her life.

She hopes that through her writing, she can give a voice to the Filipino youth, especially those who are unseen and powerless, bring to light their struggles, and move others to action.

Truly, God pours His grace and empowers the next generation to make a difference.
