Christmas is a celebration that welcomes all people, especially those who are marginalized in society. When Jesus was born, the news of His birth was announced to the shepherds—an isolated and forgotten group. This season reminds us that God desires to display His love to every person, regardless of social status. As His children, we now have the ability to demonstrate it, especially for the marginalized in our nation.
Yesterday, in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development, we had an opportunity to hold a Christmas celebration in Malate for over 200 abused and neglected Sama-Bajau children and parents.
Volunteers from our locations in Malate and Greenhills prepared games, food, and encouraging messages for them. With the help of generous members of our church, we also distributed multivitamins and hygiene kits. The children and parents came out with memorable gifts, bright smiles, and filled tummies. For some of them, this was their first experience of a Christmas party and we considered it a privilege to host it for them.
Let us continue to show kindness and generosity to the people around us, especially to those who are neglected in society. God designed Christmas to be a celebration for all.
