In the latter part of last year, our nation experienced flash floods due to shear line, northern monsoon, and low-pressure area in some parts of Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao. Several casualties were reported and livelihood is severely affected. Families were forced to evacuate while rescue operations simultaneously happened across the VisMin regions.
Misamis Occidental is one of the hardest hit as 2 of its cities and 9 other municipalities were submerged in water leaving over 8,000 families displaced. Power supply and communication lines were down in several areas.
Our church plant in Ozamiz immediately responded with prayers and encouragement to our church members and their families who have lost their homes and provided ready-to-eat food packs, drinking water, clothes, and temporary mats to sleep on.
Together with our churches in Dipolog, Ipil, Pampanga, and Pagadian, we were able to serve 300 families in 3 barangays in Oroquieta City by donating hygiene kits, basic kitchenware, drinking water, sleeping mats, and mattresses. We hope to extend help to more families in the coming weeks.
Pray for God’s comfort and provision upon those affected by recent floodings in Palawan, Visayas, and Northern Mindanao. Despite livelihood and homes being washed away, may hope and faith in God bring courage as our churches continue to minister restoration upon them.
