Keep the Faith: Riza Marimon’s Journey

Riza was raised in a Christian family, but didn’t understand much about the faith she believed in. She then decided to stop going to church when her father died. This carved an empty and endless void in her heart, leading her to seek more.

Entering National Teachers College as a student gave her the opportunity to hope and dream again. One day in her freshman year, her curiosity led her to a Youth On Fire service in Victory U-Belt at Recto Avenue. Little did she know that this was God’s intervention to draw her closer to Him. She gave her life to her Heavenly Father that day, and she was never the same again. Since then, her life message has always been about excellence. She continues to live this out from her student years until she has finally become a college professor at Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig.

“It’s the same old boring strokes. It’s all about being a good and faithful steward of the things God is entrusting you with. Whether big or small, keep doing what He has called you to do.” – Prof. Riza Marimon

Even her 7-year break from teaching to take care of her family was never a wasted season. It gave her lifelong lessons on humility that strengthened her character and made her become the educator that she is today.

Riza believes that now is the best time to start molding the hearts and minds of the next generation. She does this by teaching them with excellence and sharing the hope we have in Christ. Riza’s story shows us that there are many ways we can participate in reaching and encouraging the next generation. We can help them continually press on in life and put their hope in Christ.
