Jesus Is Life: Empowering Student Athletes

Discipline. Grit. Perseverance. Passion. Mad Skills.

Athletes inspire us to hope in the face of adversity. The Apostle Paul even alluded to their consistency and discipline to encourage the Church to fight the good fight of faith (1 Corinthians 9:24—27, 2 Timothy 2:5).

Behind their talents, skills, and mentality, many of them wrestle with the pressure to perform and grapple with purpose and the battle for integrity and moral compromise.

This is where God calls us, placing a burden to declare and demonstrate the gospel to them.

In UP Diliman, our campus missionary and former basketball coach, Bryan, prayerfully asked God for open doors.

God didn’t just nudge the door, He swung it open.

Bryan’s former teammate and current head coach of the UP Women’s Basketball team asked him to pray for the team during their huddle. Since then, door after door has opened for us to sow seeds of faith and hope in conversations during drills, huddles, and even heartbreaks after tough games.

We believe that God will continue to grow the seeds that we are sowing. We pray that more student athletes will experience the life-giving and transforming power of the gospel.

One day, as they place their hope in Jesus, may they declare His glory and faithfulness in their homes and campuses.
