On the morning of July 27, the province of Abra was hit by a 7.3 magnitude earthquake. It was the epicenter of the earthquake that hit our nation. Several other provinces in Northern Luzon were affected including Baguio, Benguet, and the Ilocos regions. The shaking was felt across Metro Manila as well and is dubbed as a “major earthquake” of the year.
There are 4 municipalities that were severely affected in Abra, including Bangued, where our church is located.
Our churches from all over the nation are extending help to provide relief and assist families in rebuilding their lives and homes. Through your generosity, we were able to distribute 422 relief packs and provided water bottles. We blessed families with tents and tarpaulins as their temporary shelter.
Last August 5, 2022, our North Luzon churches (namely Agoo, Batac, Candon, Narvacan, San Fernando, and Vigan) all came to help and support. We were able to serve five barangays in three municipalities:
- Bangued: Brgy. Calaba (South), Brgy. Sao-atan
- Pidigan: Brgy. Casilagan Alinaya
- Tayum: Brgy. Poblacion, Brgy. Addamay Budac
We also gave relief goods to our churches in Ilocos and La Union, which were affected by the earthquake as well.
Our pastors from these communities were able to preach the gospel and also ministered healing to those who have illnesses and diseases. We also prayed for the barangay captains and councilors.
Through our church community, we are extending God’s love and comfort by providing counseling support and rehabilitating damaged homes in affected areas. Rebuilding takes time, but God is our strength and our faithful provider.
Thank you for your outpouring of love and generosity to our countrymen in North Luzon at their time of need. They have felt the love of God through you.
Let’s continue to pray for those who have been affected by the earthquake. May God restore what they have lost and may they anchor their hope in Him who holds all things together.

At 8:43 am on July 27, 2022, the Northern Luzon province of Abra was hit by a 7.3 magnitude earthquake. It is the epicenter of the earthquake that hit our nation early Wednesday morning. Several other provinces in Northern Luzon were affected including Baguio, Benguet, Vigan, the Ilocos regions. The shaking was felt across Metro Manila as well and is dubbed as a “major earthquake” of the year.
Thousands were asked to evacuate for safety due to falling debris and landslides. Houses have been destroyed, however, families are camping outside refusing to leave their property. Currently, there is no water supply in Abra and roads are blocked with debris. Communication is intermittent in several areas across the regions and banks in Abra remain closed. Aftershocks are still being felt even a few days after.
There are 4 municipalities severely affected in Abra, including Bangued, where our church is located. Victory Bangued, though affected, is coordinating relief support in partnership with the local government to help neighboring municipalities like Lagangilang, Tayum and Bucay.
As a church family, we have Victory churches from Metro Manila and provinces extending help to provide relief and assist families in rebuilding homes.
Together, let’s pray for the affected families, relief workers, and our nation.
- Pray for God’s peace, comfort and protection for all. In times of shaking, may we find God’s comfort and hope through the gospel.
- Pray for strength, faith and provision as affected families and communities rebuild homes and livelihood.
