Fresh Water and Living Hope for Negros

Fresh Water and Living Hope for Negros

Before the year 2024 closed, Mount Kanlaon erupted, sending lahar flows that devastated nearby communities on Negros Island.

Families in the affected communities experienced fear and uncertainty as their livelihoods were threatened and the vital resources they depended on were compromised.

Thankfully, our leaders and volunteers were ready to serve in the face of crisis. Victory Bacolod and nearby Victory churches immediately mobilized relief efforts to provide much-needed assistance.

As much as these families are grateful to receive these relief goods, we know that there is a bigger challenge that they need to face. Mt. Kanlaon’s eruption contaminated rivers and water sources within their area, which created a severe shortage of safe drinking water.

A crucial part of the response was establishing a water purification system which took two weeks to finish. Today, we are happy to serve these communities by providing access to clean drinking water.

Beyond the physical aid, our leaders and volunteers ministered Christ’s steadfast love and hope to the affected families and communities during the Christmas season, bringing a message of comfort and strength knowing another year is up ahead.

Only God, our living water, can truly quench our temporary thirst and satisfy our eternal longing.

Armed with hope, the recovery process continues. Let us continue to pray for the communities’ long-term recovery and the safety and health of the families and communities near Mount Kanlaon. May they experience God’s love in every circumstance, finding comfort and strength in His presence always.
