Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of Gods mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is true worship.

Romans 12:1 (TNIV)

The term "worship" comes from an Old English word that literally means to acknowledge one's worthiness. We were created to worship God—that is, to recognize and declare the praiseworthiness of God. Worship results from seeing who God is and responding to that truth. The Scriptures clearly reveal that worship is more than just singing or music. In fact, the Apostle Paul defines true worship as the act of offering ourselves completely to the purposes of God. It is easy to miss this truth. Worship is not an event— it is a lifestyle. It must go beyond mere words. Our realization of God's worthiness is expressed loudest through our actions and obedience. And seeing how great, magnificent, and good our God is, how can we not respond with this reasonable act of service?

Reflection
1. Read John 4:21-24. What does it mean to worship in spirit and in truth?
What are some examples of false worship?

2. Hebrews 12:28,29 exhorts us to worship God in an acceptable manner.
According to this verse, how and why are we to do this?

Application
1. List down the different names, attributes, and character traits of God that you know. Praise Him for who He is and how great He has been in your life.

2. Are you currently practicing anything that is considered a false form of worship?
Decide today to worship God in spirit and in truth.
